Today, February 22, is National Margarita Day.

No joke.

I’m not sure why anyone is at work today.

My calendar (old school, paper hanging on the wall) indicates Presidents’ Day with a red “20” in the upper right corner and the words “Presidents’ Day” written right across the bottom of Monday’s box. It couldn’t be clearer.

On the 21st, my calendar tells me it’s a “New Moon”. And for today, Wednesday, February 22, all I get is that George Washington was born on this day in 1732 and it’s Ash Wednesday.

And I have to thank my brother, Jeff. If not for his text alerting me to the holiday, I’d have missed it.

I also have to thank Tequila. If you go to nationalmargaritaday.com you’ll see that this day, like so many other things in our lives, is “Proudly Powered by Tequila.” And in a heart warming display of team play, no single brand is mentioned. On National Margarita Day, all tequila is equal.

I’m off to celebrate. I wish a Happy Margarita Day to one and all!
